What to Expect
Whether you visit VETSS for an emergency, an appointment, or a walk-in, you’ll be treated with courtesy and professionalism.
Emergencies are our specialty, and we do everything in our power see them quickly. If you are here for an emergency and called ahead, a veterinary technician will be waiting for you upon arrival. They will take your animal to a critical care area, where our attending veterinarians will work to stabilize its condition. If you did not have an opportunity to call ahead, our receptionist will alert the critical care staff the moment you arrive so they can prepare our state-of-the-art facilities for your animal’s specific emergency. While our staff cares for your animal, relax in our clean, spacious waiting area and help yourself to complimentary tea or coffee from our automatic Keurig machine. After your animal’s emergency, our reception staff will send a medical record update to your home veterinary clinic, provide you with any necessary pharmaceuticals, and give you instructions for home care and monitoring.
If your animal is not having an emergency, VETSS recommends you make an appointment. When you arrive for your scheduled visit, our reception staff will greet you and help you fill out any required paperwork. You won’t be kept waiting long, but please help yourself to complimentary coffee or tea until the veterinarian is ready to see your animal.
You don’t need an appointment for a non-emergency visit—We welcome anybody, anytime. Those without appointments will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. After your appointment, the receptionist will update your animal’s medical record and answer any followup questions.
VETSS is conveniently located across the street from Charlottesville Albemarle Airport. Our large parking lot has plenty of shade. We are open 24-hours a day, including pharmacy!
